My Haida Gwaii Vacation

It's over now and I'm headed for the ferry. Tonight I will sleep in the car while we cross over to mainland British Columbia. I've had a great vacation. It was sorely (pun intended) needed after all the trauma of my scarred nose. I've gotten over it. Actually, the scab fell off (I know, TMI!) and it looks much better. At least the Canadian dogs didn't seem to pay much attention to it.

Here I am at low tide smelling stuff
So here are the highlights of my vacation.

I got to go onto the rocky beach while the water lapped at the shore. When it was low tide, there were tons of great smells. I got in trouble when I tried to pick up broken crab shells and fish skeletons. But that's all part of my life. I like doing things to get in trouble!

My next favorite thing, usually after a walk on the beach, was "sunbeaming." I'd go all over the beach house trying to find the best sunbeam so I could lay in it. If the sun was too high, I'd just stand in the sunbeam. Today, while I was waiting for the trip to the ferry, I laid on the grass in the sun. What a life!
Here I am in a great sunbeam

My third favorite thing was standing out on the Coast Guard dock looking at the birds. I saw seagulls galore, a crane and.... my favorite, the Eagle. I like watching birds. I don't try and chase them. When we were driving down an old logging road the huge black ravens flew just in front of the car leading the way. That was fun. I think they enjoyed our company too.

Ravens are very important birds here in Haida Gwaii  According to the Haida people who live here, Raven is responsible for creating Haida Gwaii, releasing the sun from its tiny box and making the stars and the moon.

I think the ravens on the road were having fun with us.... after all, they are known as tricksters.

So now I have to return to the mainland. No more crab shells, no more dead fish smells, no more sea grass, no more playing with dogs on the beach. It has been a great vacation.

Leaving tonight on the BC Ferry to Prince Rupert

The ferry is waiting to take me to the mainland
I'm kinda sad. I've become accustomed to my new moniker as "The Salty Sea Dog." But tonight I'll be back on the ferry (in steerage, of course) headed away from beautiful Haida Gwaii. Since we leave so late in the evening, I'll just be sleeping so that's OK. I won't be missing too much... perhaps a good sunset.

I think Haida Gwaii and the village of Sandspit is a great place to bring a dog. There are beaches to run on, trails to explore and roads along the water to just walk. I have befriended the eagles on the nest down the street. They used to make sounds when I got near their tree but they don't any more. I still go crazy when I smell where the deer have been but I am sure they would get used to me too.

I've met a couple of nice dogs on the beach. One was Diego, a big bull-type dog. He was best pals with a little boy. Both of them seemed to like water games. Diego would go in the water after a stick or even a rock. I just stayed on shore with the salt water lapping at my coonie paws.
This eagle got used to me walking by her nest.

All the people have been friendly here in Sandspit. Some of them even learned my name so when I was out trotting down the road, I would find friends all along the way.

So tonight I will bid farewell to Haida Gwaii. Maybe I'll plan another trip up here. There are more places to explore and smells to smell.

But for now, it's time for a nap!

Yachats - Beach, Gifts, Treats and Pets

Here I am NOT scared by the crashing waves in Yachats
Here I am, Cinnamon, magically transported to the BEACH! It was another one of those "Cinnamon, get in the car" days when I didn't know where I was going. But I should have known... my long leash and food were loaded, then my owner's jackets and hiking boots were put in.

So after a very winding drive through golden fall scenery, we reached a very nice dog-friendly place, The Fireside. My friend Oakley recommended it. He knows all about the Oregon Coast. In fact, when we got to our room, Oakley had left a GIFT FOR ME! I was so excited. Now I have tons of treats... enough to last me all weekend. And, I love the cute toy that looks like Oakley. I am one lucky dog.
Here's the gift Oakley left for me. Don't worry,
I won't eat the chocolate!

After calming down (I get excited about gifts) we went out the door and to the ocean trail which is just down the path. The waves were crashing and I wasn't a bit scared because I have been a "salty dog" ever since I enjoyed time in Haida Gwaii. I went right down to the rocks and sniffed around. I was looking for some crabs and dead fish.... cool stuff like they had in Haida Gwaii. But all I found was the remnants of a campfire where they must have been toasting marshmallows. Note to self: Check tide table.

So we spent quite a bit of time walking the coastal path. And, you know what? I found out the people here just love dogs. Many times I was stopped so people could pet me. The man in the picture below said that he and his wife were watching me from their balcony earlier and were thrilled to get to meet me and pet me when they took their walk. He scratched my back too!

So it's now time to hit the sack (I have my travel bed here... not my real bed because it is still in Haida Gwaii).  I heard that there is a 10K  walk tomorrow. I'll bet we're going on it. I will be good and tired after that.

I love Yachats! I can't wait for tomorrow!

Ferry Dog Once More! Riding the Washington State Ferries

I just got the good news. I'm riding a Washington State Ferry in just about a week! I am so excited!

When I traveled in Haida Gwaii, I learned how to be a FerryDog. In order to get from the mainland to these remote islands, we had to take an overnight ferry. That meant I had to stay in the car and sleep during the crossing. Now I didn’t like it when the hull creaked, the horn sounded and the loudspeaker announcements were made, but I managed to just deal with it.
Here's the huge overnight ferry I rode on
Here I am sleeping in the car. I got annoyed because of the sounds all night.
After the big ferry we had to take a little ferry too.
Why did I just deal with it? Well I loved Haida Gwaii. The beaches were full of seaweed, shells, crabs and leftover fish (the parts the eagles missed) and I could go wading. I loved my time there!

Here I am tidepooling in Haida Gwaii
So now, as we plan our luxury vacation in Anacortes and SanJuan Island, I’m involved in the planning. I asked to take a ferry where I could ride on the deck with my ears flying in the wind And Washington State Ferries allows that! Here’s their pet policy.

So we made a ferry reservation online to travel from Anacortes to Friday Harbor and back again.

We will stay in Anacortes, where they have some great places to walk, and take the ferry over the next morning. I’m looking forward to every bit of my luxury getaway. It’s been too long since I had a vacation without Francesca!

Ilwaco: Walking the Docks and Dreaming of Fish

It's been a year since I went fishing for salmon and crab in beautiful Haida Gwaii, Canada. I was really missing hanging out on the docks and sniffing for fish. So during my trip to the Long Beach Peninsula when we decided to go to Ilwaco, I got really excited. They have FISHING BOATS in Ilwaco and that means.. FISH! Ilwaco has a real fishing port and even though they are busy fishing and processing fish, there are great things there for visitors and their dogs to do.
It's mostly about fishing in Ilwaco, WA and I want to go too!

We drove up to the Port of Ilwaco and found a convenient parking lot right across from the docks. There were lots of places to explore... fishing charter businesses, restaurants, art galleries and even a book shop. I loved walking and sniffing and exploring.

I really don't need a fish finder. I can SMELL them!

Each time we came to a gangway down to the docks, I pulled to go down there. I wanted to get on a boat AND GO FISHING. The sea air blew in my face and made my ears flap! So after trying to get my owner to walk down two gangways, she finally gave in and took me down to the fishing boats. There were huge boats and smaller ones. Many were from out of state... even the South Pacific.
Here I am asking nicely to go down on the docks. I love the smell of fishing boats. Please?

We walked to the end of the dock and turned around. Once we returned to the walkway, I enjoyed the grass, the Condor Sculpture and the fish shops. I gave the condor sculpture the once over just to make sure it wasn't real! This life-size replica of a real California Condor has a nine-foot wingspan. Why was it there? Well, reportedly, Lewis & Clark, the explorers, saw that type of bird on their trip to the area.
Here's that SCARY condor!
The next thing that really interested me was the parade of fishermen returning from their charter fishing trips. They had tons of salmon in bags. Once they got up to the walkway, they took the fish out, hung them up and had their pictures taken with their catch. I have to say, the salmon I caught in Haida Gwaii was bigger than most of their fish for sure!

Here's the salmon catch from one of the charter boats.
SIGN ME UP!

I really wanted to sniff the fish but my owner wouldn't let me. We took a picture and walked on.

By then, I was getting tired. I had run on the beach for an hour in the morning so I was ready for a nap in the car. I gladly hopped up on my seat, had a drink of water, and stretched out. You see, it is overcast and misty many days on the coast so I wasn't in danger of overheating in the car. I went to sleep quickly.

It was only later that I found out that my owner had met a friend for lunch at Ole Bob's Seafood right across from the parking lot where I was sleeping. As you might guess, they didn't bring me any seafood after their DELICIOUS LUNCH! But what's new. Such is the life of a dog.
I know she had lunch there. I saw her come out!

That was our last stop on our wonderful trip to THE BEACH. I was sad to leave but am already planning my return. There is so much to do and see on the dog friendly Long Beach Peninsula of Washington.

Exploring Dog Friendly Kitsap Peninsula: Point No Point Lighthouse and Beach

Like I said yesterday, I wanted to explore more of the Kitsap Peninsula. So as soon as it stopped raining today, we hopped into the car and headed north... to Point No Point. What's the point? (ha ha) Well, we were told that Point No Point Beach was a great one for dogs like me!

They had lots of these in Haida Gwaii
We drove through the woods. It wasn't all that far from the Poulsbo area. We were on the road to Hansville.

Soon I saw the Salish Sea (I guess they also call it Puget Sound). There was a float plane flying overhead which reminded me of Haida Gwaii. I was worried that it might be crowded at Point No Point because it was a holiday weekend. I don't like to be bothered when I am exploring beaches!

Imagine my surprise when we pulled up to the parking lot right at Point No Point Lighthouse. There was plenty of room for ME! First thing we did was head for the beach. It's a Kitsap County Beach so I didn't have to use any of my blogging income for fees. Yay! This beach had nice sand, driftwood and plenty of shells. There were some people fishing. One guy caught a Silver but didn't offer to show it to me. Others were off shore in fishing boats trying to catch SALMON!
Here I am on the Point No Point Beach. I love beaches!
As I walked down the beach, I was left pretty much alone to sniff the sea life, climb on driftwood and enjoy the sea air ruffling my floppy ears. Crows cawed at me.

I loved my time there listening to the water lapping on the shore and hunting for stuff in the sand. I found a driftwood shelter and thought it would make an amazing beach house for ME, CINNAMON!
Don't you think this would make a great driftwood beach house for ME?
Reluctantly I walked back to the lighthouse area. I was really surprised when the docent at the lighthouse INVITED ME IN AND OFFERED ME SOME WATER! Wow! I soon learned that the Point No Point Lighthouse is the oldest on Puget Sound. It was built in 1879. They sure take good care of it. There was lots to see in the museum including a huge fog horn. There was a ladder up to the fresnel lens but they wouldn't let me climb up there. They offered us a guided tour but I just preferred to sniff around and look for dog-related things.
Here's the light station. They were really nice to me there.
Soon we left the lighthouse and went over to a two story house that once housed the lighthouse keeper and his family. But now people (but NO dogs) can stay there overnight. I'd love to do that, especially during a storm, but I guess that won't happen.
Here's the Keepers Quarters
We walked back down on the beach for a little bit and I loved looking at the boats. I wished I was on one... fishing.
Dream on, Cinnamon. Dream on!
Oh yes, wanna know why Point No Point is called that? Well, back in the 1840's the Wilkes Expedition arrived in the area. They thought the point there would be a really big one. But it wasn't. It was just a small point. So they were disappointed (pun intended) and named it Point No Point. Sour grapes, I guess.

I liked it there. It's a great place for a walk, for beach combing and maybe even for a stay in a driftwood dog house!

BC Ferry Adventure: Upgraded to Business Class

Here we are driving onto the Ferry
It was a great day touring Northern British Columbia. We walked along Cow Bay enjoying the sunshine at Prince Rupert. I was very patient while they went grocery shopping and picked up bagels at Tim Horton's. In fact I was VERY PATIENT during the whole trip when we stopped at grocery stores to get things for friends at Sandspit. You see, they live on an island and groceries arrive only once a week at the little island store.

So back to the issue at paw. I am an experienced BC Ferry passenger. Last time I complained a bit because I had to ride in "steerage" while the people went up top to a cushy cabin with a porthole. I felt like a second class citizen as I rode in the bow of the ship in a locked car. The only good thing was that the car was loaded with food so I knew I'd never starve if we ended up marooned on a remote island somewhere!

So this time I had a plan. I made my move at the Overwaitea grocery store at Prince Rupert. I slinked from the back of the car up front and curled up in the driver's seat in the best coonie ball I could create. I was staking my territory. When they came back with their groceries they had to tell me to get back to my place. I was asleep and didn't want to move.
Here's the Breaker's Pub in Prince Rupert where THEY ate.

So next, they went to the Breaker's Pub for dinner leaving me with a handful of dog food and water. What's new, eh? After THEY had dinner we drove down to the ferry terminal and got in line. I was abruptly awakened for one last walk. I was so glad when I saw my friend who works at the Ferry Terminal. He always pets me.

I was even more glad when the BC Ferries staff member came over the loudspeaker and announced they would be loading. The sun was setting and I was more than ready to go to sleep. We were motioned on board and were assigned a place in the bow. That is near the A/C and I like that! I couldn't wait for the people to LEAVE! They locked the doors and as soon as they headed up to the passenger deck I JUMPED INTO THE FRONT SEAT for a long night's sleep.

See? I upgraded myself to Business Class. Enough of the dog seat. I was curled up on the driver's seat just like a human. I was cool. As the ferry left the dock, the hum of the engines put me to sleep. It was a smooth crossing and I was zonked.

At 5 a.m. the Purser came on the loudspeaker and announced that we were docking. OH NO! The people would be there too soon for me. I sleep until 9 a.m., don't ya know? OH NO! there they were coming to greet me. They unlocked the doors and I gave them a dirty look. It was TOO EARLY. They put up with my sleepiness but when the cars started disembarking I had to move. I was FORCED to return to the back seat. Grrrr.

So after we got off the ferry, we drove a bit to look at the sunrise. I got to see and smell beautiful Haida Gwaii. The cool air woke me up and I enjoyed the dawn. I'm ready for another Haida Gwaii adventure! (Well, after I take a nap).

The truth about the bed...

Here I am sitting on my bed.
Well, in my last post I alluded to something about my bed..... you know, my memory foam mattress dog bed (or was it a sleep number bed... I can't recall). Anyway, I've had a very special bed since I was adopted in New Mexico.

The bed is the only reason I no longer get on the couch to sleep. That bed saved me from thousands of "No, Get Down," scoldings. It was my favorite bed, ever. My owner changed the towel on the bed every couple of days. She had a special stack of faded towels just for my bedding.

My bed became my best friend. I would sit on it to look out the window. I would curl up and sleep on it on cold winter nights. I would stretch out and lay on it on hot nights. I loved my bed.

My bed came with me on the long trip north to Washington and with me the first time I visited Haida Gwaii. I  felt at home when I had my bed with me in a motel room.

So what's this all about? WELL.... SHE FORGOT MY BED AT THE BEACH HOUSE IN HAIDA GWAII. LEFT IT THERE. SO NOW IT IS JUST ME AND NO BED!
Here I am all stretched out sleeping on MY BED.

Once she was on the ferry she realized she had forgotten my bed. I had to sleep on old quilts in motel rooms. And, they just don't have the cushy feel of MY BED. So now I am sleeping on a quilt... nothing but a quilt! In fact, I now go into my crate when I want a sense of something familiar.

I WANT MY BED BACK! How would you feel if someone forgot YOUR BED? Bad nights ahead... I just know it!

Bed Wars III - I feel like Goldilocks

Here I am squeezing into the bed that is usually in the back of the car. Don't I look awkward?
Well my bed should be back in the good old U.S. by now. Our friend was bringing it back from the B&B in Haida Gwaii for us.

Meanwhile I feel like Goldilocks when she went to the Three Bears' house. One bed was too small and one bed was too big. And, if she was lucky, one bed was just right.

That's what I have felt like these past few months. I've been trying out every bed. NOTHING IS LIKE MY BED! Last night I got my car bed out of the back of the car and tried that.

I gave up on the pad and quilt. I gave up on the comforter. I gave up on the floor under the table. So now.... the car bed!

The car bed was familiar so that was good. I usually just sit on it when I am riding in the car.  I curled up on it and went to sleep. So far so good. Then I woke up and moved. Whoops... my ears fell off the side of the bed. IT WAS TOO SMALL!

When will I have the bed THAT IS JUST RIGHT?

Everything is so big here in Haida Gwaii

Here's that huge eagle out in the tide pools
I'm staying in Sandspit at a B&B and today, since the guys went fishing (without me, thank goodness) I am having a day of rest. I heard they were going to fish for halibut and that type of fish is so big there wouldn't be room for ME AND THE FISH in the boat. I'm glad to be on dry land. Halibut are HUGE!

So I was surprised that on the way to the store (I got to ride shotgun since the guys were gone), we ran into some HUGE things. First we saw about 20 eagles down on the beach feeding in the tidepools. Those eagles have 7 foot wingspans and you can hear the big feathers whirring in the wind when they fly overhead. I'm scared of the eagles so keep my distance.
Here I am shocked at the size of the horse near the store.

So after we went to the store we stopped at a field and I got another scare. There was a huge horse looking at me. I howled and I bayed and the horse just stayed there looking at me in the car like I was crazy. I guess this horse was not familiar with "riding to the hounds." It had huge ears and big brown eyes.

This horse had a huge head!
I was glad when we got back to the B&B even though the store is only 5 minutes down the road.

These huge things here just wear a hound out. I think I'll take a nap, now.

Yours truly,

Cinnamon the sea dog.

Country Club for Dogs - Driving, Sightseeing and Getting Embarrassed

Here's one of the beautiful trees
out in the country
I was beside myself with excitement this morning. I couldn't wait to leave. I knew I'd have much more fun today than I had yesterday. Yesterday I stayed home ALL DAY!

But today I went to the Country Club and will be there about a week. A WHOLE WEEK OF PLAYING!

So we headed out east along the Columbia River. I noticed that the river was running really low and there were lots of sand bars showing. I thought it was just like in Haida Gwaii when the tide went out and I could go tide pooling. But we didn't stop.

Then we turned north into the countryside. There were horses, fall leaves, farms and huge homes. I call those "house farms." What used to be beautiful farm land was being turned into houses for humans and their dogs. By the size of the homes, I figured each family had about 5 dogs! (Well, some of them share rooms.)

Then we turned down the drive into the Country Club. I was surprised to see A REAL TRAFFIC JAM. It was just a few minutes after opening and all the people and their SUV's were dropping off their dogs. There were huge dogs of all colors and a little yapping dog in a little yappy pink dog crate. The big dogs all went up to sniff the little dog but that made her yap even louder! I just ignored her because I was on my best behavior.

All of a sudden one of the big male dogs went over to a beautiful red sports car with shiny chrome wheels and... you know... lifted his leg! I WAS SO EMBARRASED. I made a mental note to avoid being in a play yard with THAT ILL MANNERED BRUTE!
Here's the drive into MY Country Club.
There were so many cars at one point that
we had to park far away from the office.

So then it was my time to go in. I was a little hesitant, but not much. (I just do that to make my owner feel loved). I was really in the mood to play so was happy that they took me right out back to the play yards.

It's a dog's life on Moresby Island in Haida Gwaii, Canada

We'll I've rested up from the lengthy confinement in the bowels of the ferry during the voyage from Prince Rupert to here. I've sniffed around the B&B to get my bearings and I'm beginning to like the island life here on Moresby Island.

Here's my beach.
I'm staying at the Bayview Garden B&B and Hostel right across from the bay. It's just perfect for me with grassy gardens all around and a beach to romp on. I can only be in certain places in the B&B but that's ok. I just love being here on the island. People are more laid back and outdoorsy. That works for me because I'm an outdoorsy kind of hound and I'm definitely laid back.

I go for long walks and even did some long distance running on the beach. Sandspit is just that, a long spit of sand. The only problem with my running is that I wasn't paying attention to the people who wanted me to come back and walk with them. Oh, well. I soon tired and got caught! :) That afternoon I took an extra long nap.

Here's the little ferry that goes between Sandspit and Skidegate.
Every morning I get up and go outside to sniff around. I think deer come through the property at night. Eagles sit in the trees overhead and look at me. I think they should stay in the trees. They are huge. Some crows landed in the cherry trees where I hang out. I jumped at them and scared them away!

Here I am getting ready for my ferry nap.
In the afternoons sometimes we go for a ride. Sometimes we take a small ferry over to Skidegate. I'm so used to ferries now that I just lie down in the back of the van and snooze. The locals here call those "ferry naps." I take "B&B naps," "travel naps," "motel naps," ... you get the picture. All this touring wears a houndie out!

Each evening I take a walk and when I want to go to bed, it's still light. My owner tries to keep me awake but I sneak off to my cushy bed and sleep while people are still enjoying the light and the 10 p.m. sunset.

Here's the party I slept through. The chocolate Lab went, though!
Last night I even slept through a party that was going on outside on the front lawn. I heard later that there was a wonderful chocolate Labrador retriever at the party. I wasn't invited anyway (as usual).

I've heard that we're going fishing Friday. I'm going to be checking out the bait and hiding when they bring the huge fish on board the boat. I hope there aren't too many high waves. I don't want to get wet. But, I'll tell you all about it for sure.

Well, it's time for my morning nap!

Little Miss Sunbeam

This sunbeam on the landing is just right for ME!
Ever since I visited Haida Gwaii and stayed in the attic apartment at the B&B, I've earned the name "Little Miss Sunbeam." You see, even on a hot day, I love basking in the sun. There will be no Vitamin D deficiency for me, Cinnamon!

Sometimes I have to search high and low for a good sunbeam. At the Country Cousins' house THERE ARE NO SUNBEAMS ON THE FIRST FLOOR! I finally got smart and started looking upstairs AND THERE THEY WERE! I found sunbeams on the stairs. I found sunbeams in the hallway and, if the bedroom doors were not closed, I'll bet I'd find sunbeams in the bedrooms!

So I am much happier now. I have found my sunbeams. I think I'll go curl up in one now!

Hunting on the Beach in Lincoln City Oregon

Me and my shadow at the BEACH!
Hi. It's me, Cinnamon, writing from THE BEACH!

Yep, we finally got to the sunny beach after driving through fog and drizzle in the Coast Range and down the beautiful Oregon Coast for what seemed to be forever.

Once we got to THE BEACH (Siletz Bay) I hopped out of the car and decided to go hunting. I remembered fondly how I went tide pooling in Haida Gwaii, crunched on crab shells and tasted dried fish. So what was I to hunt here?
Here's one of the seagulls that I scared!

We walked along the beach, hopped over driftwood and skirted the incoming waves. The tide was turning in Siletz Bay and I found my first thing to SCARE! I went after seagulls. They were wading in the incoming tide looking for stuff to eat and didn't notice me until I was pretty close to them. That was fun.

Then I looked out in the water and saw some bobbing heads. Was it dogs swimming? No, it was sea lions. Sea Lions cavorting in the tides and looking for some fish to munch on. They were pretty far out so I didn't go after them.
Here's the sea lions bobbing around in the bay.

So I went back to the car and we unpacked and took everything into our room at the Looking Glass Inn. They even gave me a cool round bed to sleep on.. and TREATS.

So once I got to the room I did some research on Lincoln City. I found out that we were smack dab in the middle of Glass Float Hunting Season. Now that was something I could hunt. There were shiny orbs on all the beaches just waiting there for ME TO FIND THEM! Float season in Lincoln City takes place through May 26th. I can't wait to go hunting! And like they say, it's FINDERS KEEPERS!
This is our really nice room at the Looking Glass Inn with the really nice round dog bed.

I'll let you know if I find one. But for now, I'm going to rest up on my nice round, cushy beach bed!

Bed Update: B minus 1 - The Big Reveal

I'm getting really antsy. It's only one more day until my NEW BED will be delivered. I was bugging my owner so much she let me know what type of bed I would be getting. And here it is... THE BIG REVEAL!

Don't worry... the Lassie is not included!
My new bed is a comfy, cushy Kirkland Signature™ Pillow Top Orthopedic Pet Napper. It is a tan colored attractive and stylish pillow top orthopedic bed which is said to provide "the ultimate in support and comfort." The orthopedic memory foam bottom with cooling gel increases airflow and cooling, while the pillow top design provides extra cushion for comfort and nesting.  The cover zips off for easy washing.

Now this would not have been my first pick. I want leopard print... but it sounds very comfortable. And if that huge ball of fur can sleep on it, I should be able to stretch out and get really comfortable.

So today we are re-organizing things. I will be SHARING THE OFFICE. I guess I really blew it in the TV room by getting on the couch and chair when my owner wasn't looking. I also guess I am expected to work more since I will be in the room with the computer.

So we moved my crate (a.k.a. Box) into the office and my owner showed me an empty spot where my NEW BED will be going. I was satisfied with that. Anything beats the bed replacements that I have tolerated ever since MY BED WAS LEFT IN HAIDA GWAII!

So tomorrow, you will see me ON MY NEW BED! Can you tell I am excited??? I'm singing.....

TOMORROW, TOMORROW .....

The sun'll come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun
Just thinkin' about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow till' there's none
When I'm stuck with a day that's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say oh
The sun'll come out tomorrow
So you got to hang on till' tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away

My New Favorite Treat: Wild Salmon Chews (Discount Coupon)

No more rawhide for me!
These are the real deal!
Last night, after a very hot day, the sun went down and we were in the mood to play outside. Francesca and I played balls for about ten minutes and then thought, “Gee, I’d like a treat!”

So our owner went looking in her “treat closet” (she calls it the pantry) and found a bag of treats she had ordered with her own wild salmon filets a couple of weeks ago.

Little did I know that these would become my absolute favorites!
It took me awhile to get my salmon skin chew
undone so I could enjoy it to the max.

The treats were bone-shaped chews made entirely of naturally dried wild salmon skin. Francesca and I got really excited when we saw them. We sat for our treats and then headed to enjoy them on the cool green lawn.

They were delicious… not like other treats. These were real. These were healthy. They were from Canada. And, they reminded me of fishing in Haida Gwaii when I got salmon jerky as a treat. They were that good!

I, Francesca, ate mine faster than Cinnamon did!
Since they were dried, it took us a while to chew on them. It turned out to be a really great evening. So, you can get some too! They are available from Vital Choice Seafood. Be sure and use our coupon for a discount by clicking on this link:

Here’s a bit about my new favorite treats:

100% Wild Salmon skin*
Natural source of omega-3 fatty acids and lean protein
No byproducts, fillers, or rendered materials
No nitrites or other preservatives or additives
No artificial coloring or flavoring
Product of Canada

Dogs need omega-3s, too!

Each re-sealable bag contains three individually wrapped chews. Store sealed at room temperature. No freezing or refrigeration required. Now this is a problem. Francesca had one and I had one. So now there is just one left. I guess our owner needs to order two bags at a time so the numbers come out even!
Francesca watching me, Cinnamon, out the
window because I took longer to eat my treat! She's
saying "I wonder if Cinnamon will leave part of it
for me!"

*Note: Chews are best enjoyed by pets outdoors or on washable surfaces, as they may shed scale particles. They can also impart a fishy smell and traces of oily residue to textured surfaces such as carpets or sheets.
