Packing for Prescott

Our owner has been organizing and packing for two days now. I'm worried that she won't be able to fit us in the car with her food, clothing, computer, medications, hiking stuff... and the list goes on. We're simple. We just need our travel beds, Francesca's crate (so she doesn't shed all over the car), food, meds, leashes, toys. Well, I guess we're going to have quite a bit to take too!

This is only a part of our food. We have my kidney diet canned food too.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is worth it. It's only 10 degrees less in Prescott than it is here in our desert. We've been promised more walks. And different scenery. Is that enough to leave all the cushy comforts behind? I love my Coolaroo desert bed and its too large to take!

And, will Francesca be able to scare off all the wild animals up there? I heard there were deer. AND I'M AFRAID THERE WILL BE BEARS! Oh my. Oh dear.

Do you think she'll be able to protect us?
She looks mighty relaxed here at home!

But she keeps packing. And she thinks it will all fit in the car. We shall see. Wish us luck!

A Dog Bed Thanksgiving

Well, I was completely surprised when the mail arrived today. Two huge boxes were on the porch and they were for Francesca and ME!

Gone are the times when I got to pick out my own dog bed. Gone are the times when I got to post a poll and take reader input on the color. When we need a bed, they just appear!

So, I figured it was about time. Francesca had started tearing in to her bed. The cover was so thin she could see the foam underneath. They were big beds, but the top layer was thin. (You get what you pay for!). And she started digging at the foam. There were little pieces of foam all over the floor.

Here's Francesca trying to get comfortable.
Note the little piece of foam on the floor to the left.
That's what she did to her old bed.
So we opened the boxes. Inside were two pretty beds with Fair Isle printed covers. They were deeper than the old ones and cushier. But, oh dear, they were smaller. I think our owner is tired of our beds taking up over half of the office. It leads to lazy writing!

I'm not sure this bed is big enough!

So we are testing these smaller beds. They are good for coonie balls, but what if we want to stretch out? You don't suppose we'd have to sleep on the floor do you... on the rug?

Stay tuned and I'll let you know if I can adjust. Francesca seems to have adjusted just fine.
Check this out. Francesca can stretch out to about 5 feet tall on her hind legs.
But she's managed to take only half the bed up when she gets in a coonie ball.

I might be thankful this Thanksgiving. Or I might not!

Cinnamon Redecorates

I was really embarrassed when my owner posted this photo of my room. I now share it with Francesca and it serves as an office for all of us. It is decorated in Guatemalan textiles (which I hate) and my owner throws towels and blankets over the carpet to keep it clean. Well, she tries! I have spent so much time training Francesca and grumbling about her presence that I haven't had time to address the issue of interior design.

I was embarrassed to have everyone on Facebook see the decor in my room!
So imagine my surprise when we returned from the dog park this morning. There was a huge (and very cheap) rug in the hallway all rolled up. Francesca and I had to jump over it to get anywhere. It was annoying.

All of a sudden my owner took a bunch of stuff out of the room including MY BED! What was up? She even took Francesca's bed out and gave it a good shaking. (Francesca stinks!).

So I walked in the room and saw..... the rug was making the room look SO MUCH BETTER! Now I am not sure I like the design but it certainly looks better than what we had before!
What the heck is this?
I looked at the rug and decided the colors would look good with my black and tan coloring. I decided I liked it and plopped right down on it before she could even straighten it!

I, Cinnamon, claim this rug as MINE!
NOT TO BE SHARED WITH FRANCESCA!

I got kicked out of the room so my owner could finish straightening it. And then my bed was placed in the correct corner and, unfortunately, Francesca's bed was placed back in her corner. I was hoping she'd get her own room so I could have the newly decorated one all to myself!
Here I am on my bed
This is the way it should be. Just me and my desk!
And here's that annoying Francesca
in her corner
So, I do approve of the new rug and I approve of taking down some of the textiles. But THEY ALL NEED TO BE REMOVED. They clash! And, I think the room should be decorated in outdoor scenes and dog portraits. I'll work on that.

For now, it's nap time!

Unauthorized Room Decor

If you've read my blog for any length of time, you know that I am fussy about my room and where I sleep. Now, I've accepted sharing an office with my owner as long as I have my bed of choice in said room.

But this week, she got the decorating bug. AND SHE DIDN'T ASK ME! It turned out that my room is now decorated with Guatemalan weavings and embroidery.

Now I haven't been to Guatemala (BUT SHE HAS) and it means nothing to me. So I was not pleased. I'd much rather have a collection of dog paintings gracing my walls.

Shouldn't I be consulted? After all, its where I sleep!
This wall hanging clashes with my coloring.
Don't you think?

Here's one reason I don't like CATS

I've been asked what I have against cats. Well, to tell the truth, they don't like me. They arch their backs and spit at me when I come up to sniff them. I once thought I'd like a kitten but then I find out that they turn into CATS!

And here is just another reason why I don't like cats:

Today I get to go home!

I've worked hard all week taking care of my Country Cousins. I've sacrificed sleep, I've missed my dog park and... most of all I've missed my cushy bed.

I found out that these ol' dogs don't sleep as much as I do. As soon as it is dark (and after, dinner, of course) I like to go to bed. Remi and Indy stay up bugging my owner for treats and asking to go outdoors (maybe 20 times) and after all that, they go to bed.
Here's where I sleep at the Country Cousins'
Then in the morning I like to sleep in after my owner gets up. Indy and Remi get up as soon as they see her arise and ask to go outside. Then they bug her for breakfast. Because I'm afraid of missing a meal, I keep one ear on what's going on in the kitchen. When I hear food being prepared, I get up, no matter what time it is. YAWN!

Sometimes I go back to bed after breakfast, especially when it's raining. I took over the bed in the den, here. It's a fine bed but it is nothing like my cushy bed at home.

Today is a good day because we are going home.... to MY BED!
Here's where I sleep at home sweet home!

Bed Wars: Cinnamon's Last Word

So you remember that I had to go months and months and months without my cushy bed? And do you remember that I finally got a brand new cushy bed? And do you remember that I also got an animal print throw for it?

Well, I got pretty much what I wanted. So what do I do? Well..... I spend most of my time in my crate!

I realized I like my crate. I feel secure there. Now, don't go and take away my bed. I sleep on that in the middle of the night when I want to stretch out, but I like my cozy crate!

Bwahaha !!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder where I am? I'm probably in my crate!

Cinnamon's Sleep Marathon

This is my bed. This is what I do.
I got home from the Country Cousins' yesterday and could hardly stay awake as we drove.... through the fog, across the bridge, in the sun, through more fog, across another bridge. Three hours of that.

Finally we were home. I checked for squirrels in the back yard and then headed upstairs to my cushy new bed with the animal print throw. And that is where I stayed ALL AFTERNOON!

I only awoke for dinner and then took a look outside. It was dark and foggy. It was ideal weather for sleeping. So that is what I did.

Ideal weather for sleeping!

It is now 9:30am the next morning and I've just gotten up. I'm considering going back to bed after breakfast.

I think Christmas WORE ME OUT!

Yes, there are yellow Cheetahs

When I got what I thought were my Leopard print throws for my new bed, it was pointed out to me that they were probably Cheetah throws. Now, of course I should have realized that the yellow color was a Cheetah-type color. You know, Cheetos are orange! So I looked up some pictures of Cheetahs and sure enough, they come in yellow (and probably orange too!)

See how yellow this Cheetah is?
But then I realized that Cheetahs are CATS! AND MIGHTY BIG CATS. CATS DON'T LIKE ME AND I DON'T LIKE CATS (I have one next door).

But the throw is not real... it's just a print. So all is good in my world.

Here I am on my fake Cheetah throw.

I think I'll go take a nap on MY NEW BED with the Cheetah throw.

My Bed: The Rest of the story!

Some of my readers commented on the fact that I didn't get the leopard print bed cover I wanted. In fact, I didn't get that fancy leopard skin design bed. Instead I got a nice cushy bed from Costco. It is just fine but I still was missing the leopard print. So, when my owner was gone to the store, I got on the Internet and went to Amazon.com to find a cover for my bed... an animal print cover! They only had two left, so I bought both of them!

Today the mail came. I got my package from Amazon.com. I am a little unsure of the throws, so let me know what you think, ok?

Here I am opening the package. I was really excited!
Let me see how this feels. Does it smell funny or something?
(The tag says it's made in China)

I am still a little unsure. It doesn't look like the bed I fell in love with. There isn't much brown in the design.
What do you think? Does it make me look regal enough?
I am just not sure if this throw is what I really want. It is more yellow than I expected. Are there yellow leopards? Please leave your comments to help me decide. I'm on the fence on this one!

No Blog Post Today

It's 9 AM. It's me in my new bed. I don't want to write a blog post today.

Wordless Wednesday: The Arrival of MY BED!

So what's with the box? Don't bother me. I'm enjoying my Nylabone.
So What am I supposed to do? Hey is that a squirrel outside?
OMG I'm afraid to look. You don't suppose THIS is my bed?
IT IS... and it's SOFT!
So where's the leopard design cover?
I am getting comfortable... so go away! Quit taking pictures!

My eyes are getting really heavy..... really heavy.
I am getting SLEEPY.
Now this is good... like old times. It's my terry cloth towel bedding
All is well in my world. Peace at last!
MY BED HAS ARRIVED!!!

Bed Update: B minus 1 - The Big Reveal

I'm getting really antsy. It's only one more day until my NEW BED will be delivered. I was bugging my owner so much she let me know what type of bed I would be getting. And here it is... THE BIG REVEAL!

Don't worry... the Lassie is not included!
My new bed is a comfy, cushy Kirkland Signature™ Pillow Top Orthopedic Pet Napper. It is a tan colored attractive and stylish pillow top orthopedic bed which is said to provide "the ultimate in support and comfort." The orthopedic memory foam bottom with cooling gel increases airflow and cooling, while the pillow top design provides extra cushion for comfort and nesting.  The cover zips off for easy washing.

Now this would not have been my first pick. I want leopard print... but it sounds very comfortable. And if that huge ball of fur can sleep on it, I should be able to stretch out and get really comfortable.

So today we are re-organizing things. I will be SHARING THE OFFICE. I guess I really blew it in the TV room by getting on the couch and chair when my owner wasn't looking. I also guess I am expected to work more since I will be in the room with the computer.

So we moved my crate (a.k.a. Box) into the office and my owner showed me an empty spot where my NEW BED will be going. I was satisfied with that. Anything beats the bed replacements that I have tolerated ever since MY BED WAS LEFT IN HAIDA GWAII!

So tomorrow, you will see me ON MY NEW BED! Can you tell I am excited??? I'm singing.....

TOMORROW, TOMORROW .....

The sun'll come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun
Just thinkin' about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow till' there's none
When I'm stuck with a day that's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say oh
The sun'll come out tomorrow
So you got to hang on till' tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away

Bed Update: B minus 2 - Think of Puppies!

Puppies, Puppies... I love Puppies!
While I am waiting (ever so long) for my bed to be delivered on the 11th, I spend most of my hours looking sad and forlorn. However, that doesn't make the delivery happen faster.

So I search the Internet and look on Facebook for things that make ME happy.

One of those things is coonie puppies! Here's a couple of pictures of Juanita's puppies. Remember, she had NINE of them!

Look at their ears.... don't you just want to pet their cute little ears?

They are getting rather cute. I suppose if I was taking care of NINE puppies I wouldn't care where I slept. I'd just want to SLEEP!
A basket FULL of puppies!

If you want to help with Juanita's birthing and puppy expenses and Beau's medical expenses, feel free to send a donation to Colorado Coonhound Rescue. I did!

Bed Update: B minus 3

I am hoping my new bed is NOT filled with this!
It's Sunday and it's cold outside. My "bed substitute" has now been moved into my crate. I call my crate "the box." While I usually like my box, I am growing weary of having to sleep in uncomfortable places.

In the morning I sneak onto my owner's bed (she has one, I don't) to cuddle up and get warm. But then she gets up and turns on the furnace. Fun time over and I'm back to the floor. I'm not allowed on the furniture so I rely on a good bed for comfort.

So I heard that my bed was ordered and due to be delivered on December 11th. I also heard that it has some sort of pillow top. I sure hope it isn't filled with barn hay or something. One never knows! My trust is waning.

So I thought I would let you know that I only have three more days to wait!

Bed Update: B minus 4

Do they make bed deliveries in the snow?
I got an e-mail FINALLY. My bed, or at least the bed my owner thinks I should have, is being delivered. It must be coming from Outer Mongolia because it won't be here until the 11th of December. Goodness, It was ordered DAYS ago!

So today is Day 4 of the backwards countdown... B minus 4.

I don't know what my new bed will look like because I DIDN'T GET TO PICK IT. So what's new around here? I am NOT in charge. My readers suggested that the leopard print bed would be best for me. It was kind of regal looking.

So I wait... and wait... and wait.

Shopping for a New Bed - Update

I've been getting some good ideas in the comments section on my post about choosing a bed. So far it looks like people are into the look of animal prints for my bed cover. Yep, I am a huntress AND famous... so that should work.

Here I am in the back of the car all dressed up for shopping.
So today we headed out across the bridge into Oregon to do some bed shopping. (Between you and me, we go to Oregon to avoid paying Sales Tax!)

I put on my best Italian Leather collar.... you know, the one with my name and phone number engraved on a plate.

I wanted to look good because I figured we'd be going to some toney boutiques and designers' studios to look for a bed befitting a dog of my station in life.

WRONG!

First we went to PetSmart at Cascades Station. It's a nice store, and all, but the beds were, at most, marginal. They were stacked to the ceiling. I inspected them all and concluded that they were flimsy, made of inferior fabrics and had no designer appeal whatsoever. (So, what would you expect from shopping at a big box store, anyway.)
Here I am inspecting the cheap beds at PetSmart
Then we packed up and went to Costco. COSTCO! Oh horrors. The only thing worse would be going to Walmart in Vancouvria. Really! I was so humiliated, I stayed in the car and sulked. She was in there awhile. Thank goodness when she came out she was not carrying a new dog bed.

So I'm still on the hunt for a bed. But shopping with my owner today was a shocker. I want something classy, with a pillow-top perhaps and... animal print fabric. Maybe I should go shopping with some of my houndy friends. I KNOW WHAT I WANT!

Shopping for a New Bed - Input Needed!

You may remember (how could you forget) that my owner left my bed at the B&B in Haida Gwaii in August. The B&B owner offered to bring it back after his November trip to close up the property.

Today we found out (drum roll) THAT HE FORGOT THE BED TOO! He was preoccupied (and for a sad reason) and left the bed at the top of the stairs.

So YAY! we are going shopping for a new bed. I need everyone's input on the best bed for a coonie like me. Here are some ideas.  Originally I had a mattress type of bed from Petco. It was thick and wonderful but in about a year and a half it sagged in the middle. (AND, I AM NOT FAT!).

I know I want a big bed. I know I want one with a washable cover. So which should I get? I need your input. Please leave comments, bed suggestions... and keep in mind I am a coonhound.

How about this one. Don't you think it would be perfect? After all, I AM a star.
How about this one. It is made by the people who make "My Pillow" and is available on QVC
How about this one? It is pretty. I wouldn't want the sheep dog though!
This one looks very regal. Do you think I'd like this one?
I am so mixed up. There are so many choices out there. What ideas do YOU have. Please leave your comments below and links for where I can find a really good bed and what type would be best for a 5 year old coonie like me!

More Bed Wars: It's a double this time

Here I am on TWO PADS!
Hi, it's me, Cinnamon. I'm home now. As the sun was setting over the Columbia River last night my owner FINALLY picked me up from the Doggie Country Club. I wasn't concerned, though. I was playing with my beagle friend. I was just a little concerned about who would be feeding me dinner!

Once I got home, I looked around and saw that my bed STILL WAS NOT BACK! I did find out that there is a reason for the delay and it is a sad one. But I won't go into that now.

So what my owner did was make a DOUBLE BED for me out of my two crate pads thinking that would make up for the absence of my real bed. I tried it but in the middle of the night ended up ripping the covers off and sleeping on only one pad. And then about 7 a.m. I scratched on my owner's bedroom door to see if she might let me on the furniture for the rest of my snoozing. Well, that didn't work. So I am going back to bed on my crate pad now!

I did find out that she is packing. I think I heard her say that we are going to visit my Country Cousins. Now that will be fun! I'll take pictures of me and my cousins around the Thanksgiving table and post them here. But for now, I'm still needing more sleep. The Doggie Country Club takes a lot out of me!.... all that playing.... all that socializing and networking.

Bed Wars III - I feel like Goldilocks

Here I am squeezing into the bed that is usually in the back of the car. Don't I look awkward?
Well my bed should be back in the good old U.S. by now. Our friend was bringing it back from the B&B in Haida Gwaii for us.

Meanwhile I feel like Goldilocks when she went to the Three Bears' house. One bed was too small and one bed was too big. And, if she was lucky, one bed was just right.

That's what I have felt like these past few months. I've been trying out every bed. NOTHING IS LIKE MY BED! Last night I got my car bed out of the back of the car and tried that.

I gave up on the pad and quilt. I gave up on the comforter. I gave up on the floor under the table. So now.... the car bed!

The car bed was familiar so that was good. I usually just sit on it when I am riding in the car.  I curled up on it and went to sleep. So far so good. Then I woke up and moved. Whoops... my ears fell off the side of the bed. IT WAS TOO SMALL!

When will I have the bed THAT IS JUST RIGHT?
