A Tribute to Military Dogs on Memorial Day

Francesca and I are lazing around this Memorial Day Weekend. But our thoughts are with those special dogs that serve our country. They are our heroes.

Bye Bye Whitley... You were a great friend

A dog blogger friend of mine, Whitley Westie, passed over the Rainbow Bridge. But she was a real character right until the end. While she couldn't spell, she entertained all of us with her good Westie humor and her costumes. And, today, friends are dressing up for her. Now Francesca and I don't like dressing up... but for Whitley, who always commented on our blog posts, we gave it a try.

Here's Francesca all duded up for Whitley
Here I am with a hand made scarf on. Just for Whitley
Yeah, we look sad in the pictures but we aren't too sad for Whitley. She's over the Rainbow Bridge where she can run free and breathe free and see all the dog bloggers who have gone on before her. We hounds just don't like putting stuff on!

So here's to you Whitley! We did it!

This Weekend is Dog Days at Maryhill Winery

I was lazing around yesterday while my owner went out to visit Maryhill Winery in Goldendale, Washington. That’s right along the Mighty Columbia River. I didn’t get to go because they also went to the Maryhill Art Museum that doesn’t allow dogs.

But I found out something really exciting. This Saturday and Sunday Maryhill Winery is having a dog event.

Event:
Dog Days at Maryhill
Saturday May 14, 2016 and Sunday May 15th, 2016
12:00pm to 4:00pm
Its really pretty out there. A winery dog paradise!
They invite you to bring your best four-legged friend to Maryhill and receive a complimentary tasting. (Just bring your leash!) Throw a frisbee for Fido and romp and play. Top off the day with a glass of wine on their beautiful terrace.

At the Maryhill event, Home At Last Humane Society, a non-profit animal shelter in The Dalles, Oregon, will be on-site with dogs for adoption. They will be accepting donations to support HAL. Your contributions from donors help to find forever homes for hundreds of animals in need.

Here I am at the winery in the Okanagan
And don't forget, Maryhill is dog-friendly all year long!

Well, I checked my calendar and, unfortunately I will be at the Doggie Country Club on that day. Drat! I love wineries. I had a great time visiting wineries in the Okanagan Wine Country in B.C.

NUTRO™ Wild Frontier Dog Food - Review

We've been sampling new NUTRO™ Wild Frontier Dog Food ever since we opened the package that arrived at our door.

Here's Francesca nosing around the NUTRO™ Wild Frontier Dog Food
And then here's me!

NUTRO™ Wild Frontier Dog Food - Rolling Meadows Recipe Grain Free Lamb comes in a brown wrapper with a wolf on it. Maybe that means I’ll have the power of a wild wolf after eating it?

Both Francesca and I were really intrigued by the arrival of this package of healthy goodness. But since it was only a 4 pound bag, the decision was made that I, Cinnamon, would be the lucky one to try it.

Rolling Meadows Recipe Grain Free Lamb has real lamb as the #1 ingredient. I’ve been eating chicken for a long time and so having lamb was a real treat. Besides,  Francesca has enough energy without eating a special dog food!

I'm always in competition with Francesca!
I noticed that there is no grain, wheat or rice in this kibble. It’s all veggies and protein. They also put in vitamins and minerals. I need all I can get to keep up with Francesca, the three year old.

So we poured it into my bowl. It looked and smelled good. And it tasted good too. I looked forward to having another bowl in the morning, that's for sure.

It looks pretty good in the bowl and it tasted good too.
At The Nutro Company, they have a long history of making pet food — since 1926, in fact. And from the beginning, they have focused on pet nutrition. I like that. Sure, I want to fill my tummy but I also want to feel healthy.

If your dog has any problems with grains or rice in food, you might give this a try. Check out the Buy One, Get One Free offer.  And let me know if you feel like a wolf, OK? I'm still sampling the food and I feel like a healthy Coonhound.
