So Excited! New Dog Collars for Christmas

Well, we had to take our Halloween collars off last week. And I was sad that we put on our old hunting collars, the orange ones. I got to thinking. Why don't we have Christmas collars? So we got on the Internet and went to our favorite Dog Collar site and lo and behold, they had a great selection of Christmas collars at reasonable prices. I chose one and Francesca chose one. I can't wait to get them and show you. But, I guess that will have to be after Thanksgiving, right?

Decorative Dog Collars and Gear for Halloween

Remember when I was so excited about the dog tag clip? I was excited because it meant MORE COLLARS FOR ME!

I like to wear decorative collars. I always get compliments when I do.

So recently I tested out some Halloween collars because that is the next holiday that is coming up. And also because, as you know, I LIKE TREATS!

Francesca tried one too but she's too lazy to write a review. I think I deserve her treats!

So here goes:

The website where you can get holiday themed collars, leashes and more is Dog Collar Boutique. We were sent two Halloween collars to try. One was 1 inch wide and the other was 3/4 inch wide.  So you can see that they will fit little dogs and big dogs too. But what I liked about these collars is that they were COLORFUL. When I go Trick or Treating, everyone will see me.

So what are they made of? The collars are made of 100% dye-sublimated durable polyester, colorfast and machine washable. The designs are printed with a special heat transfer process onto a heavy braid. The collars we checked out had heavy duty plastic clasps and metal D rings. Now they aren't really for any heavy duty work, but in a pinch, you can attach a leash to them. I think they are best for looks.... and they look great. Best of all, they are made in the good ol' USA!

The widest collar had Trick or TREAT written all over it plus some scary cats, ghosts and witches. The smaller collar had DOGS howling at the moon. Now I liked that a lot. I have to tell you, although I am not happy about it, that the Dog Collar Boutique also has collars for CATS. OMG!

I’m getting in to decorative collars for seasons, holidays and just for fun. However, I need to keep my dog tags on me to be “street legal” here. I need to have my license tag on when I’m at the dog park. So what to do?

Saved by my Upscale Dog Tag

Here's my fancy brass dog tag. It has my phone number on the other side.

I had quite an adventure yesterday. It was an exhausting day and I went to bed without dinner.

Here's what happened. I had my treats and was getting settled in the garage while my owner went to Portland for the afternoon. She was going on ANOTHER architectural walking tour. She promised to be back by dinner time.

Like I said, I was settling in and ALL OF A SUDDEN THE GARAGE DOOR OPENED! A little freedom had come in to my life! I trotted out and started doing some squirrel hunting in the cul de sac. Then the garage door closed, very mysteriously. And, later, out of the corner of my eye I saw my owner drive away.

Now I like freedom and have gotten out before. I'm not one of those dogs who comes home and waits on the front porch for their owner. Heck no! I follow my nose... wherever it might take me.

Remember the beautiful chile design collar my owner brought me from Gig Harbor? Well, she wouldn't let me wear it until I got my brass engraved dog tag from www.dogids.com and that's what I had on yesterday. The tag gleamed in the sun while I trotted around the houses looking for squirrels. 

So I decided to go to the next street. I was walking by the house with the swimming pool and jet skis. The lady was working in her garage and saw me and my beautiful collar. She said, "come here, girl." And I went right to her. She looked at my fancy dog tag with my phone number and called the number. No answer. I thought she'd let me go but she didn't. She put me in their back yard.

All of a sudden, their dog, who I'll call Ms. Pitty-in-your-face, came running over. She was surprised to see me in HER yard. She decided I was there for a play date. She kept bugging me to play and wouldn't leave me alone. I was really annoyed... with her and about being trapped in her yard. So I lost my temper and growled and snapped at her. She finally backed off. Thank goodness! 

I looked for an open gate or a way out. There wasn't any. I started whining and cried a bit "I WANT TO GO HOME!" The lady tried to get my owner on the phone again with no answer.

About 5 pm something happened. She brought me inside her house and said MY OWNER WAS COMING TO GET ME!

It was about dinner time, so she was coming to get me just as I was thinking about dinner and wondering what type of dog food Ms. Pitty-in-your-face ate. So I went home. I was so happy to be home, I went right to my cushy bed and went to sleep. You see, when you have a pit bull in your face, you don't get in very many naps!

And my owner learned a lesson. She removed the mini remote control for the garage door from her key ring. The remote turned on at the slightest touch and that's how I got out!

Rainy Day: New Collar Delights

It's raining outside today so there is much less squirrel-chasing to be done. I saw one this morning digging in the garden so I scared that one away.

So I was a bit bored. My owner knew just what to do to cheer me up! She showed me the gift she brought me from Gig Harbor, WA. You see, Gig Harbor has a shop for pets like me. It's called Sophie's Touch. It is located right on the harbor and has so many things that I would like to see if I could go shopping in Gig Harbor.

So what my owner picked out for me was a beautiful chile collar. It reminds me of my homeland in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

So I got to see my collar and try it on. It fits perfectly. However, I can't wear it until I get a tag for it with my name and phone number. I have a tendency to follow my nose if I get out and I need that information on me so my owner can be called if I get lost (I love getting lost... it's a game!).

So now I want to go to Gig Harbor. There are lots of things to do like walk the waterfront path, buy a canine float coat for when I go boating and go to Sophie's Touch to buy treats.

Besides, it's only a half hour away from my Country Cousins!

Dog IDs Saves the Day with New Personalized Name Plate on my Dress Collar

I'm not one to stick around home if the door or gate is open. I love to explore! So my over-protective owner buys identification collars from www.dogids.com .  dogIDs has a range of tags, collars and more, all with personalization offered. I still have fun wearing that collar, especially when it flashes!

About Walking is a great site where you can read all about walking... for people! I would like to suggest that they feature more stories about DOGS.

They do have some. I really liked the article 10 Tips for Walking with Your Dog. Walking Wendy says, "Dogs are great walking companions, great personal trainers, and great nags."

Night Walker Cinnamon: New L.E.D. Dog Collars and Leashes

Here I am lighted up like a Halloween pumpkin!

I told you I'd be telling you more about some amazing new lighted safety items for dogs. So here it goes...

My good friend Walking Wendy was sent some things to review. Among them were some things for DOGS. Now Wendy doesn't have a dog so she asked me, Cinnamon, to test the lighted collar and leash. And so I did.

First I examined the tags and L.E.D. Pet Collar and Leash up close. I noticed that there are collars and leashes for S, M and L size dogs. And, their website tells you just how to measure them. It looks like they all measure the same in width because of the lights.

Here I am ready to go for my night walk!

The Nite Beams L.E.D. Pet Collar and Leash can be seen in the dark up to 1/4 mile. Now the raccoons, cats and assorted animals WILL SEE ME COMING! But so will the cars. This gear runs on replaceable batteries. They are water resistant and hand washable. So all that was good.

I tried them on. My owner pressed the button once and the whole thing lit up! I should have had these for the PIR Christmas walk! It was bright but it didn't bother me. It was even OK when she pressed it a second time and the silly thing started blinking like a traffic light! Blink, Blink, Blink... Here comes Cinnamon!

I tried out a safety orange color. I like Orange. It goes beautifully with my gorgeous black and tan coat.  The collar and leash were very sturdy. You could tell they would last a long time.

The clip for the leash was very strong and well-made. You could tell these were meant for classy dogs like me.

The lights are so bright you can read by them!

The leash and collar run $25 - $29 each. So given the quality, I think that is an OK price. Besides, I have some money to spend after some of the product testing I did before Christmas. Now, will I get orange or pink? (I am jealous of a Coon hound named Mona who has a pink collar) Hmmmm. If you are on a strict budget and can only get one thing, I'd recommend the collar.

Hi Houndies and friends. I'm back to work doing some product testing. In fact, I was so glad the rain stopped tonight so I could go out and get some night testing done. Wait 'til you find out what I have!

So I was so excited, I wore it to the Ross Dog Park this afternoon. I pranced around proudly hoping everyone would notice MY NEW FANCY COLLAR. But they were so busy playing that most didn't notice. But all of a sudden a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer came running over to me. "Nice collar, sweetie," he said as he eyed my neck. "Thanks, it's just a little something I picked up," I said, coyly. And then I noticed that he had one too.... just like mine! So I did get noticed!

I Love My New Personalized Hunting Collar

Here's my Hunting Collar. It just came in the mail

Remember the other day when I was shopping on the Internet? Well, I bought two things. The first is what I call my "Hunting Collar." It is orange just like the hunters wear so other hunters won't shoot them. Now, I'm not foolish enough to believe this collar will protect me from hunters, but it does help me be seen.

The collar has reflective material. And, if I get lost, the collar is embroidered with my name and phone number.

But mostly I just like looking pretty. Isn't it pretty on me?

So today I put it on and went hunting along the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail in Vancouver, WA where I live. What was I hunting? Well, this time I was looking for rabbits and squirrels. To find squirrels I look up EVERY TREE I COME TO. That tests the patience of my owner for sure.

So I spent time hunting and didn't come up with anything at all. (Note to self: Go hunting in the early morning next time).
