Is Old Age Contagious?

I don't want to get up! Maybe it's my special animal print throw that entices me back to bed?
I'm starting to get worried. After spending a week with two geriatric dogs, I, Cinnamon, might be turning into one myself! Yesterday, after a three hour car ride home, I looked around my house, went out in the backyard and then headed upstairs for a nap.

So then it was time for dinner. I had my dinner and went right up to bed to go back to sleep. (I just love my cushy bed). And at 9 a.m. I was still asleep. I didn't want to get up.

It doesn't help that it's raining outside and it doesn't help that it is quiet here without two other dogs... but I am wondering. Am I getting old? Is this why I am so sleepy?

What to do on a rainy day: Sleep!

Well, it really poured last night and the wind was blowing hard. In fact this weather continued through our breakfast time here at the "Geriatric Dog Care Home." I'm still working hard taking care of my Country Cousins, Remi and Indy, but I decided to slack off a bit and let them rest today. After all, it is too wet outside to exercise, right?

So here we are doing what we do best on a rainy day:

Here I am supervising the "Sleep Time"
Babysitting is such hard work!

Here's Remi on his special blanket

Here is Indy. She's warm in the house so likes to sleep like this.
Well, that's about all there is to say about today! I'm working hard, that's for sure!

Sunshine Brings Out the Best in the Old Dogs

Here's Indy Running with the Ball
Hi, it's me, Cinnamon. I've been worrying about how to get the lazy geriatric dogs I am watching out to exercise. Yesterday I came up with a three point Geriatric Exercise Program. Indy and Remi didn't like it much. They did ok at ball chasing but aside from that they just lazed around. I was fit to be tied.

But today, things got better. The sun was out and it was warm. Everyone wanted to be outside. I didn't have to drag them out of the house today! So first we wandered around the garden to warm up. Then, much to my surprise, Indy and Remi headed over to the gate to the exercise yard. THEY WANTED TO EXERCISE! (Score 1 for Cinnamon!).

Here's Remi getting some exercise (It's about time)
So we went in the exercise yard and did some running and ball chasing. Indy and Remi were doing so well at it that I decided to take a break and sniff around.... no need to over-do, right?
Here I am sniffing on the job.
After that we went back into the garden and lazed in the sun. We all soaked up the sun. Vitamin D is good for geriatric dogs, right?

We stayed out for a long time and only went in when the clouds started moving in and it got cooler. It was a great day for exercising.

I hope they sleep better tonight now that they have had all that exercise. Between you and me, I was a bit upset when they woke me up at 6:30 a.m. asking for breakfast!

Life is rough when you are taking care of geriatric dogs!

Geriatric Dogs: How to Care for Them

Since there isn't all that much to do here at the "Geriatric Dog Care Center," I thought I would post this infographic. I learned a lot from it and it will help me take care of Indy and Remi, my charges for the week.
Here's all about older dogs. I AM A YOUNG DOG STILL!
